Default Race Petition - (NOT Another Elf / Orc topic)

(I am new to forum, I Searched and sued the Brainstorm thread, found nothing, if there is something, feel free to merge or Lock)

The Tengu are a Prominant Race in the GW universe. In Prophecies You Fought Them, In Factions you Allied With Them, In C4 You should be able to Chose Human Male / Female / Tengu.

The Skins are already Out there, The Feather Colours, How the Armour Works over the Different Profetions, the Animations (Tengu Dance? ... No Comment) (Yet thinking about it there should only be one universal Tengu Dance)

There is Practically no New Spirits to make, Models to create, the Contente is already there.

Whats missing? Players as Tengu.

I'm Jotting My name Down for This.

Koala MeatPie

-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The Following is just a voicing of my opinions and not related to the petition

I discourage the Orc / Imp / Elf "Standard" Races as, well, it's standard. GW is not a standard Game. Everywhere else We can see Those "classes" And Not only do I hate them as they ring an Air of Dark basment low lifes crouded around playing D&D, but its been done.

The Tengu Models should not come with Different attributes, but just look different, thats all.

If your gonna have tengu might as well add on char the char/mursatt/nagas as these races also have multiple classes. Why not add the dwarves that GW already has as well? How about all the other races of monster in GW on top of that? Tanks could just be Trols, monks could be smite crawlers......

I belive that if anet made one monster into a player playable class then they would have to do it with nearly all of them, which would only make me think of WOW(in terms of having multiple races for single profesion). While i wouldn't mind a new race as perhaps a completly new profesion, using old ones for all current profesions and new upcoming ones seems a cleche.

See, thats exactly Why I was saying Tengu, There isn't any tengu in any other game, Its Exclusive, Mursaat? Basically Floating Humans, Naga? Only Present in Factions, Tengu are actually apart of the game, hard to exlpain, but You don't see any Dwarven Henchmen do you?

And PLZ Don't Compare GW to WoW. GW is on a compelatly other level Then WoW. I'm just glad I had a 10 day free trial of WoW before I deleted it off my computer.

Some Tengu are actually good, i.e. the Sensali Tengu of Aerie and The Roost.

It would be weird if they only added one race to the game so all you'd only have 2 choices - human or tengu. Im against anything that would make GW more like WoW. GW doesnt need new playable races just be a human... who cares about more races?

I agree with Mezmo...if they made certain monsters playable players will demand for more monsters to be made available. I can sense the chaos.

Of course, purely from a comedic viewpoint...who can't resist having titans lumbering around Droknars Forge...or maybe having a couple mursaat own Shiro with good ol' Spectral Agony...(Shiro ISN'T infused right :P?)

As to the part about mursat being nothing but flaoting humans you should take a closer look at them. They have wings, 6 eyes, purple faces and no nose/mouth. They sound more like an alien then a human. And the jade armours are not even close to humans

You might not have dwarven henchman you can choose, but you do get to fight with dwarves, and even get to protect that king who like to get owned my Heritics.

Your right that GW and WoW aren't on the same level, but if you amde the different race selections it would start to become mroe like WoW, which is what most people wouldn't want.

But hey, The people spoke and I understand.

The people spoke? 10 people on a forum board spoke, not the people.

Races are great IMO, and I feel they'll have to add them some time for this game to go anywhere.

Ummm...no. Thats about the stupidest thing I've heard of. They dont have to do anything. Tengu would be a great race to add, as there are already a few different models of them (normal, light feathered, dark feathered are already in the game, and there are several armors already). They are also a quite unique race. Also, though some are enemies, the Tengu are predominatly a friendly race in Factions (except for the Sensali).

Dwarves, though not unique, wouldnt be a bad race to add either.

EDIT: And all this bull%#$@ about being more like WoW has to go. WoW is crap because of bad graphics, overpowered classes, fishing, bad PvP, and monthly fee. There is nothing wrong with being able to play as different races.

Omgzors races are in WoW that means its worst idea ever and will ruin game zomg. /sigh

Dredge are in both continents as well.....

I don't like all the races in the game, and I certainly don't like Elves or Orcs, but I would like some alternate race options.

There is more to it than just adding them as a playable race, in order for them to be a significant option, you would have to design at least a half dozen armors for each selectable class. I think if they released new races that they should make different races available with each chapter. Dwarves in Prophecies, Tengu in Factions, and so on, so it isn't a mesh of every race in the game, but we do have some variety. They could release mini expansions for each chapter which include the new race and perhaps some alternate starting locations/quests, for someone of that race, which would branch into the first missions of that chapter.

Whether or not anything is needed isn't really important, a game overall isn't a neccessary life function, the whole point is to provide entertainment and meet the desires of it's gaming community. New races fits well into the gameplay and storyline of the game, so it isn't a taboo addition, and there are some players who would like to play them, and even pay for them. I really don't think there is any further point than that, only that Anet would decide to add them and find a way to do so eventually.

I personally want to see something a little more advanced than "new skins" to play the same classes with though.

Weither or not anything is already there is important. making new content is expensive, (F.E.A.R. Costing just over a million, (searching for source) )So if content is already there, It can ease the cost. PLus adding Tengu, a very unique race More people will be inclined to Purchase the game.

Because past the original payment of 60$, Sorry to say but A-net doesn't really care weither or not you go for FoW or stay for a year or not. They need content to attracted players, if they only released Prof, they would be loosing money seeing as serverse and everything cost money, which is why they relase a new Stand alone game every Second Quarter.

Mini Pets are a nice plus to keep players, but its not necessairy, its just an incentive stay around long enough and get bored, so you go and buy the expantion, If it wasn't for the Octoberfest and "Wintersday" or Dragopn Fest, TRUST ME, tones of people would have dropped (maybe not that much, btu a lot)

Adding a Unique race not seen in any other game, with a Rich background such as the tengu will DEFINITIVLY attract more players.

personally, I want to See more of the tengu in C3 and C4, and hopefully D.A.M.C. will be around also. Easpecially Cynn and Cynn's jeletic rage. So Funny.

And yes, I used jelousy as an adjective.

well.. personally.. I don't have too much love for tengu.

Race, if needed, could be added seveal ways (I still like them with its own core classes... ) But for tengu, I would just want them to be playable only as a "special character".

A special character is where you have less development over them. You can not play them in PvE, and their class/skills are more set, which means you can not change or get them more skills like regular character do. They can only be play in certain zones, such as PvP, or special area that allow Tengus. They are more as there for short fun, and not for RP or PvE purpose.

That is what I would want to see atleast....

Im all for Tengus, but only Tengu.

Dwarves are nice and all, but really aren't as well developed in the Guild Wars universe. The Tengu have a nice back story, are allies with humans (on one campeign anyway), are exculse to Guild Wars, and most importantly already are in Proficies and Factions.

'sides, I'd LUV to be a Tengu Ritualist. Rits move in weird ways when they cast their spells/spirits. I gotta see a Tengu do that. =P

Nah, the restriction would be source of much criticism, You ahve Ellite Skills, Why not Ellite Characters? YES! thats an idea!

You'd have Unlock The Tengu Class, and then you'd only be able to ahve one per account. Or Game access code.

But only Tengu. Unless there eventually is a race as attachable as them in a few years.

Hm.. if you want my opinion, I really don't think Tengu play as big of a part in this game as people make them sound. In Prophecies, they're always just hostile creatures you have to fight... like the Grawl. The Grawl range all the way from very low levels in the pre-searing to 24's in the Southern Shiverpeaks. Hydras can be seen from northern Ascalon until the very end of the Ring of Fire. In Prophecies, the Tengu are just another type of mob the game forces you to deal with.. not really that big of a deal.

In Factions... sure, you ally with them. Or to be more exact, after you leave Shing Jea Island, you ally with one of them. Talon Silverwing.. and he's no more than a henchmen. The Tengu that has been spoken of as allies are those known as the Angchu Tengu. They're not necessarily allies.. it's more like the humans and the Angchu Tengu tolerate each other. Most humans (including the headmasters.. excluding Togo, of course) think of the Angchu Tengu as lesser than them... which would also make this idea a bit unimaginable. I can think of one instance for example, being the second Warrior quest given by Weng Gha. Weng Gha himself says that the Tengu know basically nothing about combat, and that he would begin the real training. I don't exactly think they would be too happy to train the Angchu Tengu as one of them. But I digress. The fact of the matter is, the only time the Tengu play a large part in Factions is on Shing Jea Island. After that, they become just another type of mob (Sensali [Shing Jea also] and the Star in Nahpui Quarter).. actually less seen in Factions than in Prophecies.

On the issue of henchmen which was brought up earlier, Tengu aren't the only non-human race you can select. Anyone ever use Brutus or Sheena? They're henchmen.. and they're Rot Wallows. Why not be a Rot Wallow? =P

I just don't understand why of all the races in the game, you would want a Tengu. I guess maybe it's just because some people think they're cooler or whatever.. but I personally believe that Guild Wars should stay as different from World of Warcraft as it can. Someone mentioned that GW and WoW were on two different levels.. and I think it best they stay that way. Neither I, nor any of the numerous people I communicate with, have any problems with being a human.

Sorry for the novel. :-)

I'd like the inclusioon to have the choice to be a different race.

As the OP stated - the Tengu have everything in place already. Brutus and Sheena and every other Rot Wallow has only been a Necro. Dwarves have been fully fleshed out as well.

The races I would likje to see included as a playable race are:
Tengu
Dwarves
Dredge (we have befriended one)
Centaur (we have befriended one as well)

Torn on this one. I would love to play other races at times, but then again being human makes GW stand out among the other rpgs.

though for other races, one thing I did like about WoW (the only thing actually) was the Undead race. Being an Orrian would be interesting, and all the classes are covered.

If they add a new race, they should add a new race specific proffesion, and frankly I don't mind always playing human.
